D/Gauge, specialist gauging provider hosted an online launch event to present their much-awaited clearance assessment software to the market. Over 300 attendees joined the Zoom Webinar which was being live streamed from The Iron House venue in Birmingham.
After the name release in April, the software’s detailed functionality remained ambiguous until the official launch event. The day was a celebration of the innovation that D/Gauge are bringing to the railway industry to revolutionise clearance assessment for Track and Infrastructure Engineers.
Presentations opened from David Johnson, founder of D/Gauge and lifetime railwayman. He introduced why this innovation is fundamental and how the software is future-proof, ready for tomorrow’s technologically advanced railway.
Unmatched Processing Speeds
David Steward, Head of Software for D/Gauge took delegates through a detailed demonstration performing three types of clearance assessment live for viewers to see. A structural clearance assessment, passing clearance and stepping assessment were all achieved in fifteen minutes during the live presentation. The speed of calculation and setup of the assessments was unparalleled and sparked huge interest from existing users of incumbent gauging software.
Collaborative Spirit
In the spirit of industry collaboration, D/Gauge invited Mark Bonner, CEO of Bonner Rail and Colin McKechnie to talk through their involvement as a partner in developing D/Gauge Rift. Having the hands-on experience of seasoned professionals from outside of D/Gauge ensured the product is right for the target audience and the revitalised processes perform the same outputs (and to the same standard.)
Doing Things Differently
The session ended with a live questions and answers session – hosted by Colin Johnson, Managing Director. Heads of Departments and guest speakers had the opportunity to answer live questions posed through the platform. Overall, the guest interactivity was great and whilst the event could not be held face to face due to government restrictions – D/Gauge Rift was presented to the market in an informative, collaborative way to overcome the industry’s virtual fatigue.
The software is due to be released for public sale in October 2021, with several companies already securing their go-live dates.
