D/Gauge Announces Headline Sponsorship for IMechE Railway Gauging & Clearance 2025

March 10, 2025

D/Gauge is proud to be the Headline Sponsor of the IMechE Railway Gauging and Clearance 2025 seminar. As a leader in clearance assessment technology, D/Gauge is dedicated to advancing railway safety, efficiency, and capacity through cutting-edge solutions like D/Gauge Rift.

D/Gauge, the railway clearance specialists, today announced its role as Headline Sponsor for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers' Railway Gauging and Clearance 2025 seminar, reinforcing its position as an industry leader in gauging technology and clearance assessment solutions.

The annual seminar, which has established itself as a key event in the railway engineering calendar, brings together infrastructure managers, rolling stock specialists, standards bodies, and technology innovators to address the complex challenges of railway gauging across Great Britain's network.

"This partnership with IMechE aligns perfectly with our mission to advance gauging methodologies and provide cutting-edge clearance solutions for the rail industry," said Colin Johnson, Managing Director of D/Gauge.  "As the developers of D/Gauge Rift, we're committed to driving innovation that increases network capacity while maintaining the highest safety standards."

During the seminar, D/Gauge's Technical Director David Johnson and Head of Engineering Ian Johnston will present on "Defining Probabilistic Gauging," exploring implementation progress on RIS 2774 development and the substantial benefits this approach will bring to the railway industry. Their presentation will offer insights into how probabilistic methodologies can enhance capacity while maintaining safety margins.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience hands-on demonstrations of D/Gauge Rift, the company's flagship cloud-based clearance assessment platform. Already employed by major organizations including Network Rail, WSP, Arcadis, Jacobs, and Mott MacDonald in the UK, D/Gauge Rift has also made significant inroads in international markets, helping improve freight capacities for US operators like Amtrak, CSX, and G&W.

The platform's comprehensive capabilities include vehicle-to-structure assessments, vehicle-to-vehicle clearance calculations, platform clearance analysis, and equipment clearance evaluations – all delivered through an intuitive, cloud-based interface with access to extensive vehicle libraries and structure data.

"While the UK remains a critical market for D/Gauge, we're excited to showcase our international capabilities at this event," added Colin. "The seminar provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how our technologies are addressing gauging challenges across different railway environments and regulatory frameworks."

The IMechE Railway Gauging and Clearance 2025 seminar will take place on 24 March 2025 at IMechE Headquarters, Birdcage Walk. London. For more information or to register, visit Railway Gauging and Clearance 2025.
